When's Your Birthday

Shortly after the World Series is played, and the winners are crowned, and baseball season is over, my daughter, excited about baseball, will start asking, "When does baseball start again?"  and I'll always answer her with "Not until March". Sad face.

She'll keep asking that over several weeks, until I'll answer her with, "Well, when does baseball start, do you remember?" and she'll say "March" with a smile because she now realizes that March is getting closer.

But she's a sly one, so she'll change her question to, "When's baseball on TV?" and I usually chuckle about this time because she's a sweetheart, but now my answer is, "Not until after my BIRTHDAY!" (because I always make a big deal about my birthday coming up, it's a family tradition).

Funny, she never gets excited that my birthday's coming up!

These cards came in a trade with Geoff2568.

Do you usually receive baseball-related gifts for your birthday?

  1. I too have a Spring Training-adjacent birthday. I buy a card each year and tell my wife that is what she got for me. Works pretty well - this year it was a '49 Leaf Andy Pafko.

  2. No, usually it is just dinner.....or breakfast but I'll take that too.

  3. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. But baseball is always on my mind on my birthday because it's in mid-July.

My daughter was never interested in baseball when she was little. She probably follows it more now as an adult, though it's mostly via instagram.

  4. Not usually... but it happens every now and then. My brother has taken me to A's games in the past. I'm pretty sure I've received a blaster box from a student before... but that could have been for Christmas. Like John said... it's usually dinner with my friend whose birthday is the day before mine. We usually celebrate it together with her family.

  5. My family always gives me cards on my birthday; which means more PC help and more posts on the blog!

  7. My wife isn't big on buying me cards. I'm okay with that because of how specific what I collect is. I'll usually get a blaster or two for Christmas. For Valentine's Day she went down to a shop in Mansfield and got me a box of the 2026 Topps Chrome Olympics cards.
