Card Good, Team Bad

Participating in the recent Blog Bat Around: Cards You Like of Teams You Don't Like.

I went to my PC binders because it seems the guys you love always end up on a team you don't. My distaste for these teams is in no particular order.

Houston Astros (since the 2017 cheating scandal).

They leave such a bad taste in my mouth still.
Big Nolan Ryan fan, big fan of the old Astros uniforms, and big fan of 1982 Donruss.
Can't stand the Astros.

Boston Red Sox

I should be a Red Sox fan as my family is originally from Rhode Island, and I'm a big Patriots fan.
I never really warmed to the Red Sox though. In Southern California (where I was born) I was more attracted to the Angels. And besides, the Red Sox took the title away from the Angels in 1986.
Seems they're always messing with the Halos.
The card is great: food logo, bad airbrushing, goofy portrait.

Pittsburgh Pirates

Nice thoughtful pose of Angels Great Jim Fregosi at the batting cage.
Not of fan of the Pirates. Their colors bother me, and those hats they wore in the 70's and the "We Are Family" really turned me off. That's probably about the time I committed to the American Leage in all contests and disliked anything National League (except the Braves, I've always liked them).

New York Yankees

Because they're the Yankees.
I always hated it when an Angels player went to the Yankees or Red Sox.
Love this card though, especially knowing Abbott threw a no-hitter. And the colors a really attractive.
Abbott is on the back side of the Greg Maddux card.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Got no problem with the Brooklyn Dodgers, it's those LA Dodgers I don't care for.
They started in the doghouse when they mistreated the newly formed Angels in 1961.
This might be the first card I picked up with Ohtani in a Dodgers uniform, not that that holds any special place in my heart. It's a nice-looking card, good colors, and the Panda in kinda appropriate.

Oakland Raiders

Big fan of 1989 Pro Set, I'm slowly collecting it, and who doesn't like Bo Jackson?
I've always reacted with a "yuck" though whenever the Raiders are mentioned.
Growing up they were the bad boys of football, always controversial, and their fans were downright scary.

Philadelphia Phillies

Dale Murphy = awesome. You don't see cards of him running much it seems.
I've always liked 1992 Fleer. Opened a lot of it back then, probably had close to a set, and tons of dupes. But then during a downsizing I got rid of it. Now I regret it.
I don't have a specific reason to dislike the Phillies, though I have for a while. But actually, I've warmed a bit to them the last couple seasons. Maybe.

Colorado Rockies

Love Todd Greenes goofy Spring Training catcher pose.
Again though, it's a colors thing for me, never liked the Rockies uniforms, or for that matter, the Marlins. And being two of the "newer" teams I've just never really grown attached to them.

Seattle Mariners

Not a Mariners fan since they knocked the Angels out in a one-game playoff for the 1995 American League West title. Plus, they're a division rival. Big Olerud fan though, and I've always loved the 1989 Upper Deck design (second only to the 1991 design).
